About Kosher Certification

Kosher certification confirms that a product meets the requirements and restrictions of kosher law. It is a process by which the kosher status of a product or establishment is warranted and guaranteed. Food that may be consumed according to halakha (law) is termed kosher in English. With specific requirements Kosher foods are divided into three categories viz. meat, dairy and pareve. A fundamental principle of "kashrus" (kosher living) is the total separation between meat and dairy products. A third category, Pareve, is comprised of foods which are neither meat nor dairy and may be eaten with either.

There are more than 1300 certifying agencies all around the world with different trademarks and symbols.
